Exploring Plays and Playwrights Through Practice with Alex Louise

6, 13, 20 & 27 January

During the four sessions we will be exploring developments in theatre practice from fairy tales and storytelling through to contemporary performance practice with special attention to "believable" roles. We will engage some notable playwrights including Shakespeare, Wilde, Chekhov and Ibsen.

As always the sessions are open to people with a wide range of backgrounds and experience and newcomers are very welcome.

Alex is hugely experienced as both performer and educator and is very much looking forward to delivering her second set of sessions for NVT.

Acting From A Script with Philippa Hammond and Thomas Everchild

3, 10, 17 & 24 February

A fun and supportive series of exercises in character and scene development suitable for beginners, developers and experimenters.
Once again the sessions will be based around the interpretation of short scripted scenes, with opportunities to direct as well as act.
Some exercises will explore ways in which actors mark scripts to help with techniques such as pausing, double takes, asides and throw-aways....
These four sessions will be led by Philippa Hammond and Thomas Everchild of Brighton Actors Network and Sussex Playwrights.
