A darkly comic satire on terrorism set in Ireland in 1993. A terrorist ceases torturing and chip-shop bombing to return home, hell-bent on finding the person who crushed the skull of his beloved cat Wee Thomas. There he initiates a murderous cycle of revenge. But who was responsible for the cat’s demise, and why?
Award-winning director and playwright, Martin McDonagh is one of the most provocative and controversial playwrights working today and The Lieutenant of Inishmore represents his most controversial play. A merciless assault on the politics of violence and its ultimate futility.
Auditions will take place from 7.00pm on Tuesday 12th, Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th, Tuesday 19th, Wednesday 20th October in the South Hall at the NVT.
Recalls will take place at the same venue on Thursday 21st & Tuesday 26th October from 7.00pm, (dates subject to change).
Candidates will be asked to read extracts from the play. Irish and Northern Irish accents will be required for all roles, (though not essential at the audition stage).
Copies of the relevant scenes will be available for collection from the South Hall or can be sent via email upon request from Monday 13th September.
Bookings will be taken from 13th September. Priority will be given to those who have pre-booked.
Under Current Covid Conditions all cast and crew for NVT productions must be double vaccinated and will be required to self test twice a week during the rehearsal and performance period
