Short Play Festival 2019  - Audition Notice

Production Dates: 19th – 27th July 2019

Audition Dates:  Tues 7th May 7.30pm – 9.30pm & Sat 11th May  2pm-5pm

Synopsis:

What should be a happy day for the family is clouded over with memories of the past, and when a neighbour arrives unexpectedly, bringing with him a Westerner’s view of marriage and relationships, things take an unexpected turn.

This play is set in contemporary London and addresses issues such as the refugee crisis and differing cultural perceptions of sexuality and arranged marriage.

Cast:

 

Aya

Female, late 40s/ 50s/ 60s, originally from Syria but settled in the UK for over 40 years

Alex

Male, 25 – 30yrs, Aya’s nephew, a Syrian refugee

 

Sami

Male, 20 – 25 yrs, Aya’s nephew, a Syrian refugee, visually impaired after sustaining injuries from a bomb explosion.

Ed

Male, 20s – 30s, Aya’s next door neighbour
