Early 1960s, Yorkshire. The touring York Mystery plays are in rehearsal. Farmhand George has a bit part. He meets the metropolitan assistant director, John. What follows, with aching tenderness and absolute simplicity, is a forbidden love story.
Peter Gill’s influential play about two men in love is a tender, touching reflection on the rival forces of family, class and longing.
