Performance Dates

Friday 6^th – Saturday 14^th November (the Sunday is a matinee show)
Rehearsals begin: Around 1st September (depending on availability)

About the Play

Two gentlemen, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, both lead double lives, adopting the name “Ernest” whenever it suits them. Chaos, romance and hilarity ensue as secrets unravel and Victorian pretences are hilariously exposed.

Characters

Performers of any gender identity are welcome and encouraged to audition for all roles

Jack Worthing – Late 20s / early 30s; responsible and earnest

Algernon Moncrieff – Mid to late 20s; charming and mischievous

Gwendoline Fairfax (Lady Bracknell’s daughter) – early 20s; sophisticated and determined

Cecily Cardew (Jack’s ward) – 18 – 25; youthful and lively

Lady Bracknell – middle aged – 40’s – 50’s+

Miss Prism (Cecily’s tutor) – middle aged; governess

Rev. Canon Chasuble, D.D. – middle aged+

Lane (Algy’s manservant) – middle aged+

Merriman (Jack’s butler) – middle aged+
