A chance to work with one of the top dialect coaches around to refine your Leeds accent, and to find out more about the show and ask any questions. Tea and biscuits!
AUDITIONS - Sun 20 October @ 6pm
This will be a group audition. You’ll be reading from the script. I’ll let you know the pages for your character in advance.
No recalls. I aim to cast on the night if possible.
REHEARSALS: First rehearsal Sun, November 17th 6pm
Then Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings.
PLOT: behind the scenes of the police operation to catch one of Britain’s most notorious serial killers, Peter Sutcliffe, aka the Yorkshire Ripper.
CHARACTERS
Meg Winterburn – police sergeant who runs the Incident Room. Efficient. Late 20s to late 30s.
Tish Morgan – cub reporter on the Yorkshire Post. Pushy. Late 20s
Sylvia Swanson – police admin staff. Wise-cracking. 40s/50s
Andrew Laptew – uniformed cop who gets promoted to CID. Keen. Mid to late 20s
Dick Holland – deputy senior investigating officer. Warm. Has an affair with Sylvia. 40s
George Oldfield – senior investigating officer. Under pressure. 50s.
Jim Hobson – detective in charge of the operation to match tyre-prints. Frustrated. 40s
Jack Ridgway – head of Manchester CID. Bit of a cock. Late 30s
Terence Hawskhaw – taxi driver. Bit of a lad. 30s. Cameo.
Maureen Long – survives an attack by Peter Sutcliffe. Overage clubber. Cameo. 40/50s
Most of the characters are real people but I am not concerned about casting look-alikes.
Everyone will have a Leeds accent except Jack Ridgway (Manchester). I would like you to have a stab at the accent for the auditions. You might find these useful:
